Friction or Flow?
The theme for this year’s event was Friction or Flow? Making the Boat Go Faster. The focus of the theme is on putting strategies and programmes in place to support business plans and successes, enabling ‘flow’ - not creating obstacles. HR is a strategic partner to the business and plays an important part in whether actions taken cause ‘friction’ in the business or create ‘flow’.
In keeping with this theme, Peter Cullen and Sarah Cates gave a presentation entitled Performance: Friction or Flow which gave an overview of how employment law can be used to keep the ship steady in the workplace.

Running concurrently with the conference was the HR Expo which attracted exhibitors from all around the country. With its well-drilled team of 'lifeguards' and shark-shaped buzzwire game providing a bite participants could not ignore, attendees voted the Cullen stand to be the best-equal stand at the expo.
